首先：had served（指“他退休时比任何一个前任任期都长”，从句子的状语.。 如果将&than any&than（ did） any&quot.when he retired from office ( in 1986)来看，故用过去完成时），serve 这个动作应发生在retire之前，这句话与“现在完成时”没有任何关系（现在完成时反映的是现在情况）.这句话我个人认为应将 has served 改成，than any of his predecessors （had 比较状语从句省去了谓语部分）没有错误，与原文“has served”时态上又岂能吻合;改为&quot，那么.
“has served”本来时态就错误，我后面用&than（ did） any& 难道不正确吗？是不是在比较中谓语可以省略呢？谢谢！
在比较状语从句中，往往可以省去从句中的谓语，如：you are taller than I（am）我的意思是说，如果一个句子只改一处，那么用than（ did） any 则 did 与has served 时态不匹配，整体仍是个错句。

错误的原因是时态问题.SAT语法有时候是一个相对的关心。2。他退休是在1986，所以现在对他工作的描述应该是过去完成时，相对于比较，只是不是很严谨，时态在这句话里面错误更明显。其实那样比较也是正确的1

应该改为had served，因为后面的时间是1986已经是过去了
说这句话时George Ariyoshi 已经卸任了或去世了吧，不能用现在完成时，这里的than any 也没问题，than 连接两个同级比较的事物，这里要比较的显然是George Ariyoshi 和前任，所以 than后面直接跟any of his predecessors。哦，我说清楚了没？
