Linux VMware Tools安装步骤简易版Linux VMware Tools安装估计有点困难，我也在网上看了好多版本的Linux安装VMware Tools，方法都一样。但是自己在安装过程中，还是遇到了点问题。但是最终还是搞定。我运行的是VMware workstation 8.0.4 , OS: CentOS 6.0
1. 在CD-ROM虚拟光驱中选择使用ISO镜像，找到VMWARE TOOLS 安装文件，如C:\program\VMware\VMware Workstation\Programs\linux.iso&&& 当然这个ISO是你安装VMware workstation 的目录下的Linux.iso，不是你的Linux OS 镜像文件。VMware Tools一般都在这个文件里。
2. 以管理员身份进入Linux，root账号
3. 退出到windows,在虚拟机菜单栏中点击 虚拟机-& 安装 VMWARE TOOLS 子菜单,会弹出对话框，点击&确认& 安装4. 挂载光驱：Mount -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& 加载CDROM设备，这是如果进入/mnt 目录下，你会发现一个文件：
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& VMwareTools-8.8.4-743747.tar.gz
&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& 这个就死VMware Tools的Linux软件包，也是我们刚才使用的WinISO打开的Liunx.ISO
&&& 有的虚拟机上估计执行mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
&&& 如果提示如下错误，挂载点不存在。，[root@localhost /]#mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& mount: mount point /mnt/cdrom dose not exist
&& 请直接执行此命令：
&&&& mount /dev/cdrom /opt&&&& cd /opt或者应该可以使用自动挂载，直接进入&&&& cd /misc/cd
5. copy 此文件到临时文件夹
&& cp /mnt/mVMwareTools-8.8.4-743747.tar.gz /tmp
6. 卸载CDROM，执行 umount /dev/cdrom
7. 进入tmp文件目录并解压此文件包
&& cd /tmp
&& tar zxf vmware-linux-tools.tar.gz
&& 解压默认到vmware-tools-distrib目录下：此时你可以使用ls -ll 查看文件夹下的文件
8. 进入vmware-tools-distrib，安装vmware tools.
&&& ./vmware-install.pl& 执行安装，
&&& 安装过程中他会一步一步的有问题回应，此过程中，你遇到后面显示[yes],[no],[yes][no]的直接输入yes，然后回车。其他的问题不管[]里面是什么，直接回车就好了，不要输入。
9. 大约5分钟左右安装完成。 执行init 6重启ok。Linux VMware Tools安装步骤图文版，大家可以参考下

主机：win xp sp2 虚拟平台：VMWARE 4.5.2 在其上安装RedHat9.0。
无法安装VMWARE Tools的问题现象：能够进入图形界面，但是总是提示没有安装VMWARE Tools。具体如下：
A previous installation of VMware software has been detected.
The previous installation was made by the tar installer (version 3).
Keeping the tar3 installer database format.
Uninstalling the tar installation of VMware Tools.
Stopping VMware Tools services in the virtual machine:
Guest operating system daemon: [ 确定 ]
The removal of VMware Tools 4.5.2 build-8848 for Linux completed successfully.

无法安装VMWARE Tools的问题原因：没有配置该工具。vmware-config-tools.pl需要根据你的显示器分辨率进行配置，然后才能加强鼠标功能。
解决：需要进行如下操作：
#init 3（保证在超级用户模式下，进入文字界面）
login：root
password：
#cd /usr/bin
#vmware-config-tools.pl
然后根据提示设置，完成后reboot一下，这个无法安装VMWARE Tools的问题就可以解决了。

VMware中设置好共享文件夹并安装VMware Tools后/mnt/hgfs/下依然没有看到共享文件夹。查看网上的解决办法，都是说
1、sudo apt-get install open-vm-dkms
2、sudo mount -t vmhgfs .host:/ /mnt/hgfs
但是在执行步骤2的时候依然不行。好像是hgfs模块没有安装好。
后来试了重装VMware Tools时提示依赖open-vm-dkms和open-vm-tools此时卸载这两个软件并删除配置
sudo apt-get autoremove open-vm-dkms open-vm-tools --purge
然后再安装VMware Tools就能看到共享了。
执行到 apt-get install open-vm-dkms 出错，具体如下
xxx@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install open-vm-dkms
[sudo] password for lee:

正在分析软件包的依赖关系树

open-vm-dkms 已经是最新的版本了。

在处理时有错误发生：

解决方法：
重装VMware Tools时提示依赖open-vm-dkms和open-vm-tools此时卸载这两个软件并删除配置
sudo apt-get autoremove open-vm-dkms open-vm-tools --purge
然后再安装VMware Tools就能看到共享了。
在14.04上也遇到同样问题，用vmware-hgfsclient输出：
但运行mount -t vmhgfs .host:/ /mnt/hgfs/ 时提示： no such device
重新运行vmware-install.pl，一路默认选项，最后出现：
You can now run VMware Tools by invoking "/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox-cmd" from the
command line.
To enable advanced X features (e.g., guest resolution fit, drag and drop, and
file and text copy/paste), you will need to do one (or more) of the following:
1. Manually start /usr/bin/vmware-user
2. Log out and log back into
3. Restart your X session.
--the VMware team
按照提示先运行 /usr/bin/vmware-user，再logout/login（桌面右上端设置列表有个logout），
再运行mount第二次竟然成功！不明觉励。
./usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl -d
/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox-cmd
执行之后才有复制粘贴功能共享的实现

常见问题解答安装Vmtools的时候出现的问题
这个是在虚拟机上安装Vmtools的时候出现的问题。
VMware(R) Workstation：9.0.0 build-812388
ubuntu版本：14.04
问题：The path "" is not a valid path to the 3.16.0-30-generic kernel headers.
1、安装3.16.0-30-generic kernel headers（注意与linux内核版本一致）
sudo apt&span class="hljs-attribute"&-get&/span& install linux&span class="hljs-attribute"&-headers&/span&&span class="hljs-subst"&-&/span&&span class="hljs-string"&`uname -r`&/span&
2、进入到3.16.0-30-generic/build/include目录，并拷贝当前目录，将该目录复制到vmtools 安装时需要填写的目录。
3、重新安装vmtools，走到提示“The path “” is not a valid path to the X.x.x.xx-generic kernel headers.”时，选择yes，并输入第二步中拷贝的路径，回车继续安装即可
4、如果按照上面的步骤依然提示，则在第一步之后拷贝/usr/src/linux-headers-3.16.0-30/include/uapi/linux/dvb/version.h到/usr/src/linux-headers-3.16.0-30/include/linux下，然后按照第二、第三步继续安装即可。
