insignificant to see the future

Downtown Seattle is a gorgeous place to walk around, but sometimes hoofing it from place to place is just too much to handle. Enter Pacific Place- an upscale sister to Westlake Center, the self-described premiere shopping, dining, and entertainment center& of Seattle is the perfect place to cool off on a hot summer day, soak up the heat while Christmas shopping, or kill a few hours on a Saturday afternoon.
The mall is packed with places to visit, but here are the shops you really have to see:
-a pea in the pod- Stylish pregnant ladies, take note! When pilfered men's shirts and elastic-waist leggings no longer cut it, a trip to this chic maternity boutique will satisfy your need for fashion without sacrificing your comfort. Though the prices are a little more Nordie's than Macy's, most of the pieces are pretty timeless, so they can make repeat appearances should another little one come along in the future.
-Ann Taylor- Take a break from The Limited and New York & Co. and splurge a little, ladies. The professional womenswear brand has a new senior vice president, and she's overseeing a huge overhaul in the line's aesthetic. Be on the lookout for their girlier, more-chic pieces as well as their classic suiting department. Another little-noticed bonus: they have a pretty decent accessories collection.
-Barnes and Noble- Do you really need an explanation? This bi-level bookstore is home to tomes on every topic you could imagine, but you already know that. The Pacific Place store has an added bonus, their Starbucks, on the ground floor, has a really excellent dessert selection courtesy of the Cheesecake Factory down the street. The brownies are truly to die for.
-Barneys New York- Not too many cities on this coast can brag that they have a Barney's, so take advantage of this one, kids. The store tends to stock hot, trendy designers as well as well-liked old favorites (Alexander Wang mingles with Diane von Furstenberg). Their accessories are also pretty primo, so check out the gauzey scarves and incredible handbag selection.
-BCBGMAXAZRIA- Okay, so you won't find those incredible Herve Leger bandage dresses here. (Max Azria revamped the brand and is responsible for bringing them back into the spotlight recently.) You will find a go-to shop for going-out looks. Need a scorching-hot cocktail dress stat? You're at the right place.
-bebe- It serves a similar clientele as BCBG, but also tends to offer look-for-less pieces as well. Since you won't be getting that bandage dress next door, bebe is the place to find a less-expensive (albeit lower-quality) piece to mimic the look.
-Benetton- Come on, you know the 80s are back. To be completely serious, though, the sweater selection is off the charts here. You'll find more colors than you ever dreamed possible, and they tend to stock pretty great outerwear, too. Be on the lookou they're a best-kept secret.
-Bose- Okay, so you're definitely not gonna buy that $4000 stereo system. That doesn't mean you can't sit through the presentation and marvel at the awesome sound quality. Bose is also a great place to take a break from your they have comfy chairs and benches and will let you watch Transformers on repeat with crazy-good speakers forever.
-Cartier- They don't carry the gorgeous animal-inspired jewelry in-store (check out the gemstone Tigers from their India Collection), but you can still marvel at the engagement rings and pricey pieces. The sales staff is usually pretty nice, if they're not busy, they'll hand you one of the magazine-size catalogues of the latest collection so you can ooh-and-ahh when you get home.
-Coach- Okay, so Coach is pretty trendy (and most seventh-grade girls lust after their bags, which takes away a good deal of their street-cred). Their quality is still pretty great. The sales staff here are incredibly helpful, anything but snooty, and pretty dang friendly. Looking for wedding favors or a gift for a non-descript. friend? A key fob or cuff from Coach ought to do the trick.
-Eddie Bauer- It's Seattle. You know what to do in Eddie Bauer, guys.
-Helly Hanson- Shooting for a top-of-the-line ski jacket for Crystal next winter? Helly Hanson's your place. The outerwear selection is spectacular, and most of it is Seattle- though it's basically a bunch of windbreakers, they're impeccably-tailored so you don't lose too much shape underneath them.
-J. Crew- Obamas aside, J. Crew is a great place to pick up well-made preppy basics and trendier splurge pieces. Pacific Place is also one of the only stores in the nation to carry the jewelry collection, so don' it's pretty great. The blazer/jacket/etc. selection is out of this world (and incredibly high-quality), and their women's suiting line is not to be missed.
-L'Occitane- High-end French-inspired soaps, body oils, lotions, and fragrances are the main draw here, and they don't disappoint. The scents are all classic and appealing without being overbearing, so if you're on the lookout for a signature scent you're in the right place.
-Papyrus- Come on, you know you love pretty paper. If you want to upgrade from the Hallmark stuff you're been using or you're looking to scrapbook with something slightly less construction-papery, Papyrus is your dream come true. Don't underestimate the appeal of pretty stationary, you can go in with the intention to &just look& and leave several hundred dollars poorer.
-Seahawks/Sounders FC Pro Shop- Everyone in Seattle secretly wants one of those Sounders jerseys. Though the price tag isn't insignificant, at least it'll give you an excuse to run around yelling &GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAL!&
-The Body Shop- Think Bath and Body Works, but better. The ingredients here are higher-quality, and it's reflected in the price tag. Still, devotees can't get enough of the shave creams, lotions, fragrances, and boar-bristle men's shaving brushes.
- & Co.- Every girl wants a little blue box, right? The sales staff here will help you find the perfect trinket to put in it. Graduates everywhere drool over the classic heart-and-toggle chokers, and the key collection is to die for. Just be sure the lady in your life isn't expecting a particular piece of jewelry when you hand her the goods- hoping for a ring and getting a keychain is hardly a great surprise.
-Victoria's Secret- The main appeal of this outpost over all the other stores around the city is the size. Several rooms make visiting the store an event, and every turn reveals another delectable piece of lingerie or delicious-smelling lotion. They also offer free bra-fittings and consultations.
-White House Black Market- For dresses in the same vein as BCBG without going overboard on the trends, hit this store. The cocktail dresses are classic and gorgeous. Oft-overlooked, their jackets and tops are also scrumptious, and the jewelry selection is great too. Their customer loyalty club gives you points and rewards that don't expire for a few years, so even if you splurge on a dress here only once in a while you still get some payback.
