Like Uber, Alphabet's Waymo is now opening itself up to autonomous vehicle rides for the public in Phoenix, Arizona. All of the rides are free as part of the company's Early Rider program. You can get around the city's metro area with Waymo's minivans.
General Motors will be testing thousands of autonomous vehicles on public roads by 2018, reports Reuters. It'll work with Lyft to get the cars on the road and many of them could be picking up members of the public, much like Uber and Waymo. The vehicles are split with Lyft.
Jeff Norris, an augmented and virtual reality expert from NASA, has been hired by Apple. Bloomberg reports Norris is joining Apple as a senior manager who'll be working on an AR team. That team is currently led by Mike Rockwell, former leader of Dolby Labs.

Tesla is going to double the size of its Supercharger network this year, bringing the network to over 10,000 chargers globally. Its Destination charging connectors, which are present in commercial locations, will also grow from 9,000 installations to 15,000 this year.
Spotify is working on its own music hardware, according to a job listing on the company's website. That listing says Spotify is working on a "category defining product akin to Pebble Watch, Amazon Echo, and Snap Spectacles." The listing says the device is coming from Spotify.
Blizzard may be working on a new mobile game, according to a job listing spotted by NeoGAF. The company is looking for a new software engineer who has a "passion for playing and making games -- especially mobile games." This suggest a new mobile title could be in the works.
