I hate her.This was the longest 45 minute car ride ofmy life.我曾坐过一辆从东莞开往深圳的长途小汽车，司机只看过美国A片，他的英语词汇很有限。你能想象我们的谈话长度吗？“你们……美国人……有大鸡鸡，美国的……妹子们，有大咪咪。我老婆的咪咪很小，真讨厌。”这是我这辈子在轿车里度过的最长的45分钟。

I remember going with someChinese friends to a Western restaurant in Guilin that served a decent-enough burritoand they seemed to love it.我觉得墨西哥食品没有在中国流行实在是太丢脸了。米饭和辣味都能大行其道。我记得有次跟一些中国朋友去桂林的一家西餐厅吃饭，吃了一道相当正点的玉米煎饼，他们似乎很喜欢。

I think it's prettyunfortunate that Chinese food, despite having so much rice, doesn't do as muchas other cuisines in mixing things with it, pilafs and the like. So often it'sjust the plain white filler.真丢脸。中餐里虽然有很多大米，但不像其他饭菜里加了很多配菜，比如肉菜烩饭之类的，这让我很遗憾。中餐里常常是一碗白擦擦的米饭。

There is a section in most supermarkets where they have the shithealth conscious people like mixing with their rice, like oats, Xiaomi and thelike.. Usually find it there.你有没有去同志商店看过？大多数超市里都有一个区，那些健康癖的家伙们喜欢把大米里掺一些其他的诸如燕麦、小米之类玩意，你可以在那找到（糙米）。（J/k, drinking何解？）

I really can't remember a single time my family cooked ricethough. perhaps when i was in the navy is when i ate it more&regular& BASIS though i still loathe it. i had two bowls of rice fordinner today, yeay没，我哪有那么老，虽然我老家是东欧的，但我是在自由的美国长大的，你这个野蛮人。我完全不记得我家里做过一次米饭。可能是我在海军的时候吃了太多的米饭，我现在还是很讨厌。现在我每顿饭要吃两碗米饭，呕~

Growing up my parents dabbled inmultiple cuisines in the kitchen, Thai, Indian, Chinese, whatever.. Probablyhad rice more than potatos and preferred it as a kid.. Still love mashed spudsthough..哈哈，据我了解在新西兰大蒜曾被认为是舶来品，就像我们这些香蕉人。在我的成长期里，我的父母曾在家做过各种美食，有泰国菜、印度菜、中餐。无论如何，可能吃的米饭比土豆多，我儿时就喜欢米饭，但我也喜欢土豆泥。

Her eyes are hazel and mine are brown.Another funny one that no one has told medirectly, but I heard is a stereotype from an older Reddit post is that whitepeople just have boners all the time. koxkoxkox 21 分/分 14 天 agoA lot of Chinese think all foreigners(white at least) are alike and come from a country called 外国, where we speak 外国语 (i.e. English). 外国 is a country which seems to bevery much like America in the blockbusters and the TV shows.So, some Chinese think French people speakEnglish in France.Others will think I am very interested in Thanksgiving and Halloween.What most of them do know about France can be sum up in a few words: Paris, romantic, wine,perfume, Louis Vuitton.很多中国人觉得所有外国人（至少是白种人）都是一样的，来自一个叫做“外国”的国家，讲“外国语”（例如英语），“外国”是一个很像大片和电视里展示的美国的国家。

Where are you from?&&America.&&But you don't look American.&&My parents are from Taiwan.&&Oh, so you're Taiwanese. blonderocker 3 分/分 14 天 agoShit dude, that's not true?I'm American, but I tell plenty of ChineseI'm from some other country, like Iceland,or Canada.They don't have any preconceived misconceptions of these countries, and don'thave a long list of questions to ask about them, so the conversation usuallyjust stops there.不对吗？兄弟？我是美国人，但我告诉很多中国人我来自其他国家，比如冰岛或者加拿大。他们对那些国家没有先入为主的误解，也就不会有一长串的问题来问我。然后谈话就结束了。

Like attacking Iraq,Afghanistan,Libya etc.&Another recent one that comes to mind.&Oh of course we learn in school that England attacked us and bullied us.What do you think of that?&他们只是出于礼貌才说的，也可能只是为了秀一下他们还记得的高中英语单词。今天早些时候发生的对话：“喔你是英国来的？为啥你们老是听命于美国？比如袭击伊拉克、阿富汗、利比亚？”我还想起来另一个：“是啊，我们在学校学到英国曾经攻打并欺凌我们，这一点你怎么看？”

I brace for a 'misperception'.I put the word 'misperception' in quotesbecause is there any perceiving going on with such statements? Oftentimes it'sregurgitated bs they picked up from somewhere.I love the time I was eating lunch in thecafeteria using chopsticks when a student approached me and asked, 'Can you usechopsticks?'The sticks were in my hand going from bowlto mouth.I said, 'No, I can't use chopsticks. I havenever used them in my life,' while I sat there eating. I then said thatAmericans don't use forks or knives either and that we eat food like a dog,shoving our faces into a bowl and scarfing away. It's messy, but that's why wewear bibs.I told him to ask the other Americanteacher who wasn't with me, but who corroborated my story. Two weeks later heapproached me and said, 'Hey Teacher, you tried to trick me. I looked it up onthe Internet and found Americans use a knife and fork. You're a bad teacher.'tl/dr: Some people persist to believemalarky when evidence to the contrary is right in front of their faces.每一次碰到以“你们外国人”开头的陈述，我都做好了“又一个误解”的准备。我把误解二字加个引号是在怀疑这个陈述里是不是经过深思熟虑。而通常都是他们从某处听来就加以传播。有一次我在一个餐厅拿着筷子吃饭，一个学生走过来问题：“你会用筷子吗？”而我正拿着筷子往嘴里送东西。这个经历让我乐不可支。我说：“不，我不会用筷子。我这辈子都没用过。”我继续坐着吃东西。然后我跟他说美国人吃东西不用刀叉，而是像狗一样把脸伸到碗里吃。那样吃确实很脏，所以我们都戴着围脖。我让他去问另一位没跟我在一起的老师，但那个老师证实了我的话。两个星期之后他找到我说：“老师，你在耍我吧。我在网上看到美国人使用刀叉吃饭的。你是个坏老师。”有些人坚持相信胡言乱语，而真相往往就在他面前。
Mr_FreNezYQuébec ✈江苏省 4 分/分 13 天 agoI have the weirdest story about that: lastweek, there was a New Years open air concert (yes it was cold) and as one bandcouldn't make it, the other band played an extended set, and probably ran outof songs. At some point, the frontman said &We'll do like a KTV! If youwanna sing a song, we'll play it, and you come on stage!& Some kid went,then after he was done I started jumping and screaming 我！我！我！, which attracted theirattention, being the only laowai in the crowd. I then went and sang 月亮代表我的心 (the only Chinese song Iknow all the lyrics of).我有个最诡异的经历：上周学校开了个新年露天音乐会（天确实很冷），因为一个乐队没到场，所以另一个乐队去代替，可能是把排演的歌唱完了。某一刻，主持人说：“我们都喜欢KTV!如果想唱某首歌，我们就给你伴奏，上台吧。”有人上去了，他唱完之后我就跳出来喊：“我！我！我！”他们就注意到人群中唯一的老外。我上去唱了月亮代表我的心，这是唯一的我知道全部歌词的中文歌。
Fast forward 3-4 days: some old guy comesup to me in a shopping district, pops this huge smile, grabs me by the forearmand gives an exaggerated thumbs up. I ask him what's up, and he startsmimicking shit with his hands and pointing frantically in one direction. Not asound comes out of his mouth, I start to think maybe he is mute (it happened tome a long time ago, I got mad at some Chinese lady for not speaking to me inChinese, and then realized she was deaf-mute, ooooopsy!).过了三四天，我在商业区碰到一个老家伙，他对我露出笑脸，抓住我的胳臂，朝我竖大拇指。我问他怎么了，他开始打手势，然后疯狂的用手指着某一个方向。他嘴里一个字儿也不说，我开始觉得可能他是个聋子（很久之前我碰到过，一个中国女士不跟我讲中文，都把我搞疯了，后来才发觉她是个聋哑人，我地个天。）
Then my Chinese buddy comes over afterbuying some snack, and the old guy tells him the whole story along the lines of&I saw that guy sing a Chinese song a few days ago!&WHAT THE FUCK, YO!!! Didn't it cross hismind that I could understand him directly, after singing a whole song and evengiving a few words of introduction on stage?!?!?!然后我的中国朋友买完零食走过来，这个老头告诉了他整个故事，大意是“我几天前看到这个家伙唱中文歌。”他妈的什么事儿啊这是！我唱了首歌，然后在台上介绍了几句，这点儿事儿难道他不能直接跟我说吗？
loller⌂ 魔多✈上海 12 分/分 14 天 agoChinese seem to have a problem withconfidence or simply not just going along with everything. HR people andrecruiters will always try to low-ball you and claim they have &so manyoptions&, and you know it's bullshit. Yet telling them that you want to bepaid more, or simply trying to get money they already promised, and they willsay you're being arrogant when you're just being realistic and they're actuallyjust a shit company.This also applies to anything you saypositive. If you're not pretending to be shit at everything with faux-modesty,you're arrogant.中国人在自信心方面好像有点问题，或者简单的说不能对事情顺其自然。HR和其他的招聘人员往往会贬低你，然后表示他们还有很多问题，大家都知道这是屁话。然而如果你告诉他们你想要高一点的工资，或者拿到之前答应的报酬，他们就会说你太自大了，其实你只是很现实，而那个公司不过是个垃圾货。这也可以引申到你说的任何正面的事情上。如果你不以虚伪的谦虚来假装自己一无是处，你就太自大了。（这哥们估计在公司很不爽，在帖子里多次表达对公司的不满。不重复了。）
