　　Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay based on the picture below. You should start your essay with a brief description of the picture and then express your view on people’s addiction to plastic surgeries. You should give sound argument to support your views and write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words.

　　As is shown in the picture, a woman is telling her plastic surgeon what kind of mouth, nose, and eyes she wants to have, while her plastic surgeon is sighing and sweating with resignation.
　　Just as the saying goes, everyone wants to look attractive. It is a truth commonly accepted that a charming face can make a person more favored by others. However, I disapprove of taking a plastic surgery. For one reason, it can be dangerous to take a plastic surgery. Quite a few examples have shown us that, if not successful, a plastic surgery may cause harm to our physical and mental health. For another, appearance is not the only standard we use to judge a person. It is one’s virtue that plays a far more important role in one’s life. Compared with a man with a nasty character and a charming face, a man with a good character and a not-so-charming face will surely be more favored by people.
　　To conclude, I don’t agree with the idea to take a plastic surgery. Everyone is unique, and has his own advantages. Why not just be ourselves?

　　Plastic Surgery
　　Appearance was once regarded as something we were born with and fixed. However, it is a different story now. Thanks to the advanced medical technology, people are able to change their original faces or other body parts, and plastic surgery now enjoys great popularity around the world.
　　People take plastic surgery for different reasons. Some spend a great deal of money on the plastic surgery because they dream of becoming a film or TV star but they are not beautiful by birth. Some, however, have to take the surgery because of certain birth defects, such as harelip and lameness, and injuries in accidents. There emerges a new group nowadays ― college fresh female grads who insist that a beauty will land a job much more easily.
　　In my view, it’s not necessary that people try to beautify themselves. What we should bear in mind is that being natural is being beautiful. What’s more, people should judge others by their capacity instead of their appearances.

应不应该做整容手术？Should We Have Cosmetic Surgery?
Experts estimate that 30 percent people who make cosmetic in Seoul are Chinese. With the development of technology, the risks and costs of cosmetic surgery can be minimized. But should we have cosmetic surgery? It is a controversial topic.
有专家预测在首尔做整容手术的人有百分之三十是中国人。随着科技的发展，整容手术的费用和风险都可以降至最低。但是我们应不应该做整容手术呢？这是一个有争议的话题。
Some people agree that due to the advantages of cosmetic surgery. There are two main points to explain the advantages. First, cosmetic surgery is a mean of gaining confidence and self-esteem. We have to admit that good-looking people are more popular than people who don&t look good. &A thing of beauty is a joy forever& said Endymion. Second, beautiful appearance can improve one&s chance in the job market and later help one&s career.
因为整容手术的优点，有些人是赞成的。有两点可以解释其优势。第一，整容手术是获得自信和自尊的一个方式。我们不得不承认，长得好看的人比那些看起来不怎么好看的人更受欢迎。恩迪米恩说&美好的事物永远都是赏心悦目的&。第二，美丽的外表可以提升在就业市场的机会，对以后的职业生涯也有帮助。
Other people think it&s unnecessary to have cosmetic surgery. First, as everyone will become old, outer beauty is temporary. What we should do is to improve our inner beauty. Second, companies will not have a person with a beautiful appearance but no brain.&
有些人则觉得整容手术是没必要的。第一，每个人都会变老，外在美只是暂时的。我们所要做的是提高我们的内在美。第二，公司不会喜欢雇用一个花瓶般的职员的。
In my opinion, the meaning of life lies in knowledge and perfection of character instead of seeking temporary outer beauty. But cosmetic surgery is a person choice, having nothing to do with others.
在我看来，生命的意义在于对知识和品格的完善而不是追求外在美。但整容手术只是个人选择，与他人无关。}
