　　Kung Fu is also known as Chinese martial arts. Chinese martial arts can be traced to the need for self-defense, hunting and ancient Chinese military training. It is one of the traditional Chinese sports, which is exercised by both the young and the old. Hence, it has gradually evolved into a unique element of Chinese culture。As the national treasure, Kung Fu has hundreds of various styles and it is the most frequently exercised martial arts form. Some styles model after animals’ moves while others are inspired by Chinese philosophy, mythology and legends.

【摘要】 &正& 近两年来,武术界曾对“武术”“武艺”“武勇”等概念进行热烈的争论和研究,实际上这就是对武术起源的研究,关于武术的起源问题,现在有各种说法:如有的人认为:“中国武术的起源,可以追溯到原始社会。”有人认为,“据甲骨文记载,在商周时期,已经有了武术。”还有的人认为,中国武术是起源于少林寺,而“少林寺的武术则是起源于达摩。”又如有一些传统的拳种,自诩其起源古老,是“传自黄帝”,仿佛是起源的愈古就愈好。如何来看待这许多说法,历史上真实的情况又是什么样子,中国武术的起源和发展的道路究竟如何,本文试图就这些方面作一些探讨。
