摘要:本文对that 从句的翻译方法进行了探讨,因为在英语学习中that 从句比比皆是,而它恰好是学生学习的难点。

That从句可以在句子中做主语从句、宾语从句、表语从句、
同位语从句、定语从句。其中前四种从句属于名词性从句,最后
一种属于形容词性从句。在名词性从句中,that属于从属连词,
无实际意义,只起连接作用;而在由that引导的形容词性从句
中,that被称作关系代词,具有实际意义,它可以代指人,也可
以代指物。翻译这几种不同类型的that从句时,要根据具体情况
确定具体的译法。四、同位语从句同位语就是用来对名词或者代词作进一步的解释和说明,单词,短语或者从句都可以充当同位语。充当同位语的句子叫做同位语从句,同位语从句除指人时可以用who来引导之外,其它情况都是由that来引导。1.同位语从句汉译时不提前,也就是把同位语从句按原文顺序译成汉语。例如:I had no idea that you brought a new
car last week.一、主语从句,即that 从句在句中做主语
1.“ It + 被动语态(be+ -ed 分词)+ that 从句”句型我不知道你上周买了辆新车。在这种句型中,it 为句子的形式主语,而真正的主语是2.同位语从句汉译时前置,也就是说先译出同位语从句,再由that 引导的从句。翻译这种句型时,通常所采用的方法就是译出句子其它部分。例如:将英语中的被动句译成汉语里的主动句,而且往往要加上“我But I knew I couldn’t trust him. 3.溶合法三、表语从句:即that从句在句中作表语
That 从句在句中作表语从句时,和that 从句作宾语从句的溶合法是指把原句中的主语和定语从句溶合在一起译成一译法相似,大多数情况下,都是按照原句顺序翻译成汉语。在这个独立句子的一种翻译方法(张培基:132)。由于that 引导里,不再过多叙述。例如:的限制性定语从句与主句关系密切,所以溶合法比较适合翻译His view of the press was that the reporters were that 引导的限制性定语从句。此外,英语中的There+ be + n./ either for him or against him. pron. + that – clause 句型汉译时往往就是这样处理的。例他对新闻界的看法是,记者们不是支持他就是反对他。(张如:
