SOLIDWORKS Tips and Tricks and Info on Professional 3D Printing with Stratasys from the Technical staff of CATI.
PRL's are the cornerstone capability available in the 3DQuickPress environment. The PRL technology is used to automate and leverage SolidWorks and 3DQuickPress data in order to speed up the creation and editing of assemblies, parts, and drawing files according to a designer's and or a companies' standard best practices.
The PRL's will update to the new size X,Y and Z following the die set structure when inserted into the design with a completed Detail Drawing, ability to the add Properties, BOM, Standard Components, Standard Fasteners, Dowels and Jack Screw information 1 time to the PRL's.
Welcome to Create PRL's (Production Ready Library's) using 3DQuickPress inside of SolidWorks.
Setup and Required information
When naming of the PRL's the user will need to consider Microsoft 256 character limit imposed on path/file names.
The user should name the PRL's to a standard set by the company so multiple user with understand the abbreviated names using a cheat sheet could solve the learning curve of abbreviated names, but I would suggest keeping them as short as possible.
3DQPress PRL Rules
Defining a PRL to b will this PRL have Standard Components or other parts files added (Yes, No) if Yes = Assembly - If No = Part.
When and where to insert a
they should always be inserted into a part file. Exceptions to this rule, 1st - If you are building a Die Set Template, 2nd – Never insert a die set structure into a standard component.
Using a top level sketch to control the size, location and the amount of standard components inserted. This can be done by the following, 1st by inserting a part file to contain all of the sketches, 2nd is to just add the sketches to the assembly top level.
Adding the sketch will require deriving each sketch into the part file using SolidWorks to locate information, which will help eliminate SolidWorks loss of reference when opening the part file.
Prl's are not limited to a single plates or assembly's, they can be built as robust as needed for the user to same time Designing Tooling by following the rules above.
3DQuickPress Controls for PRL behavior
  
  Properties
UC/MC/LC - You can control where Punch PRLs will be inserted into assemblies by using this property if using a Horizontal assembly.
This property is only valid in Punch Design, and the possible values are:
LC - Lower Container (assembly)
MC - Middle Container (assembly)
UC - Upper Container (assembly)
F-SH - (Yes | No) – This property is for extra small PRL's with a retaining heel.
Update Flag - (Yes | No) – This enables or disables the PRL parameters to be updated is a 3DQuickPress specific parameter is changed and the die is told to update.INS (Yes | No) – inserts in the lower die block.
XSL (Yes | No) – This property is usually set to a PRL that will form or coin material, when the PRL is inserted this property will automatically export the selected current snap shot of surface faces of the strip layout to part bodies in the PRL. This functionality minimizes unnecessary assembly associativity to reduce rebuild times in SolidWorks. 3DQuickPress COT SET – With TEXT as the type and set the value P1 to the strip layout P1 Strip Layout, P2 for P2 Strip Layout. This is only an example of what you will get if you check.

Adding &A(0.xx )& to sketch names supports updating land and taper angle when starting a new Punch Design or Modify DSS.

Adding param.def file will allow the user to Custom set 6 Dimensions as needed, the custom dimensions.

PRL's can also use the offset value to update thickness of part files.
Item's to include when building your PRL's
Add Properties for Part/Drawing Files.
Add Manufacturing Color to Part Files and Standard Parts.
Add Cut Sketches for Wire Block openings as needed.

This Hotfix will run on SOLIDWORKS 2016 SP1.0 and newer.
This Hotfix is also Windows 10 supported.
        3DQuickPress is always working on improving the user experience, with the new online V6 seat registration the user will find faster response with registration and un-registration of machines. If you still have issues or need help understanding the process you can always call our support line.
Enhancement – Activation system robustness is enhanced.
Enhancement – 3DQuickPress auto recognizes features as the unfolding process is invoked, now the user can switch any feature by right click on the unfold feature and switch it to User Defined Feature.
Strip Layout:
Fixed – Piercing feature profile is fixed.
Fixed – Display of Restrike feature is fixed.
Fixed – Split bend feature is fixed.
Fixed – Force vector calculation for bend feature is fixed.
Utilities:
New – New function added for adding heel feature to cutting punch.
 1. A heel feature can be created on the cutting punch bottom by selecting an edge to the Create Heel function.
New – New function added for adding circular shoulders for round cutting punch.
        1. A round shoulder can be added to the top of a cutting punch by selecting the top face of the cutting punch to the Create Circular Shoulder function. A Chamfer at the bottom of the shoulder can be added by specifying the chamfer angle.
New – New function added for creating insert component on a die plate.
        1. An insert component can be created with the Create Insert function, users have to select the die plate which the insert will be located, and then select the insert area.
    2. Then, users have to input the Width and Length of the insert, or adjust the offset from the 4 sides of the selected insert area.
        3. Finally, users have to specify the corner option of the insert and the depth of the insert on the die plate.
Standard Components:
Enhancement – A &TP& configuration file property is added for screw type standard component to define the thread pitch.
*After running the Hotfix V6.1.3 the 3DQP DieSet Design toolbar should look like the screen shot below after being replaced, if it doesn't we may need to replace your UI to complete the new installation.

Many applications come up when developing blank sizes for drawn models, Material type, draw beads and holding force which spreads the stress distribution over the forming. The 3DQuickForm 3.3.0 Hotfix gives the user more tools to complete his job with a less failures.  
Using the Blank Holder feature in 3DQuickForm project.
Apply the Blank Holder feature
Right click on the feature manager tree of 3DQuickForm, select &Set Blank Holder&.
Select blank holder surface and enter the blank holder force in kN.
Compare the results with blank holder feature
Stress distribution without blank holder feature, and Stress distribution with blank holder feature
Using the Drawbead boundary condition in 3DQuickForm project
    Drawbead boundary condition can be applied to the Drawbead edge on the blank holder surface, material flow along the Drawbead edge can be adjusted with the Drawbead restraining force.
To apply the Drawbead boundary condition
Right click on the feature manager tree of 3DQuickForm then select &Add Drawbead BC&
Select blank holder surface and enter blank holder force in kN.
Compare the results with blank holder feature
Thinning plot without applying Drawbead BC, and Thinning plot with applying Drawbead BC
This Hotfix supports SOLIDWORKS 2016 and Windows 10.

3DQuickPress Component group function helps the user to create groups all component in a die set assembly, providing tools to animate the components according to die set structure simulating the motion of the stamping process. During the animation of the motion, interference of the components in the die set can also be detected.
To setup a component group according to the die set structure:
Click Toggle Component Group on the 3DQuickTools Die Set Design Toolbar.
RMB on Component Group icon and select Add Die Set Structure.
RMB on Die Set group and select Die Set Motion.
Enter the values for the parameters Progression, Die set Stroke, Stripper Stroke, Stock Level and Progression clearance.
Click Close the Die Set Motion dialog.
Select the strip layout part.
RMB on the SL group and select Add Component to add the strip layout to the SL group.
Select all lifter component in the die set.
RMB on the Lifter group and select Add Component.
To run the die set animation and interference detection:
RMB on Die Set Motion and select Die Set Motion.
Click Animation tab.
Click Play to run simulation.
Click Stop to pause the simulation.
Click Check Interference to check interference at the paused state.
Select the interference group to show the interference area.
Click OK to close the dialog
