Bibliographic Code:
Firstly, a thermal design method of spacecraft using thermal nodal
analysis is briefly reviewed. In this method thermal nodal points are
assigned to several representative points of the spacecraft and the
thermal balance equations for each nodal point are simultaneously
solved. The thermal conductance between the nodal points is corrected
using the physical simulation data and the flight data. Secondly, a
vortex method in computational fluid dynamics, re-classified as a
mathematical model, is described. In this method the conservation
equation of vorticity fixed to the fluid mass elements serves as the
basic equation. The creation of the vorticity is phenomenologically
modelled, and the decay is taken into account through numerical
dissipation and/or decay of the viscous core. The usefulness of this
concept is demonstrated by the unsteady flow field around a rotating
elliptic cylinder simulated by this method, which could predict the
existence of wake oscillation unrelated to the body oscillation.
Thirdly, the self-similarity of flow fields is discussed.
