Whole Wheat Garlic & Herb Beer Bread

I think that beer bread will forever be one of my favorite sides to prepare.
It’s quick (less than 10 minutes to prep), it calls for ingredients I pretty much always have on hand, it makes your home smell heavenly, and…let’s face it…it makes delicious use of a bottle of beer. What’s not to love?
One of my recent spins on my favorite
recipe is this easy whole wheat garlic and herb beer bread.
Made with white whole wheat flour (my favorite), it is a step healthier than the traditional all-purpose flour version.
Then with the addition of lots of minced garlic and bunches of herbs (you can use dried or fresh), this turns into an Italian-y bread packed with flavor and goodness.
It’s perfect as a side dish, as toast, as bread for a sandwich, or just to be enjoyed plain right out of the oven.
I’ll say cheers to that!
Yield: 1 loaf
Whole Wheat Garlic Herb Beer Bread
Beer bread goes Italian with delicious garlic and herbs!
Ingredients:
3 cups white whole wheat flour
4 cloves garlic, minced
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. dried rosemary
1 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. dried oregano
1 bottle (12 ounces) beer
4 Tbsp. (half stick) butter, melted
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x5x3-inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, garlic, sugar, baking powder, salt, rosemary, thyme and oregano. Gently stir the beer into the dry ingredients until just mixed.
Pour half the melted butter into the loaf pan, using a spoon to be sure that it evenly coats the bottom of the pan. Then transfer the bread batter to the pan and use a spoon to spread it out even. Pour the rest of the butter on top of the batter, using a pastry brush or spoon to spread it around evenly on top.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until top is golden brown and a toothpick/knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. Serve immediately.

have been used in our cooking and meal preparation.&
Since my family
usually has bread with most of our meals,
I was especially interested with what I would find out about
the ingredients that we were consuming within our breads.& I
was buying my bread from the local grocer so
it was pretty
easy for me to begin there with
my research.&&
ever &really& looked at the labels on the breads in your grocery store?&
Let me encourage you to take some time to not only look at
the ingredients, but also do a little research on the way
the bread is prepared for the shelf-life of the grocery
store.& You may find it a bit concerning.& For me,
if I am going to offer it to my family to consume - I really
want to know a little bit about it.
Anyway, the
point for me is I used to
not look at food labels at all.& In fact, I was pretty
naive to assume that everything on the grocery store shelves
was okay to consume and maybe even reasonably healthy for
you.& Little did I know!&&
Obviously,
bread companies work to produce a product that
can last on grocery shelves for as long as it takes to
sell.& Do you ever wonder what they have to add to the
bread in order to preserve it with the appearance of being
fresh?& Again, you can do your own research - but for
me, I want to do everything possible to feed my family
healthy, fresh, and delicious foods.& Especially
Family Get to Indulge in the Absolute Pleasure of Having
Fresh Baked Bread in the Pantry?
After doing
my research and reading everything I could find about
breads, I decided it was necessary for me to make my own
bread.& And... I didn't want to just make it from white
flour from the grocery store.& I wanted to make
fresh whole wheat bread.& I wanted my family to
