一条省道蓬吴线，同样是地方只负责征地拆迁费用，其余建设资金由省出。
吴川段由于政府没能力出征地拆迁费用，公路由规划一级降为二级旧路大修（二级旧路大修不用征地拆迁，吴川政府不用出钱）。化州段（又名：化州迎宾大道）能够按一级公路标准已经开工正在建设。
吴川段是路基宽10米，行车道7米的二车道旧路大修。化州段是路基宽23.5米，行车道15米的四车道一级改建公路。
“省道蓬吴线”吴川段的大动脉干线不知何时才动工及完成。化州段的四车道一级公路正在热火朝天建设中，在今年10月建成通车。
通过对比下化州段和吴川段的不同等级及不同对待，可以看到吴川政府是多么的无能，多么的无作为！！！

这条公路是市区到高速出入口的十五、六公里省道吴蓬线，是吴川交通的大干线，也是通往茂名、化州、高州、信宜、广西必经之路，更是通往现在建设的茂湛铁路吴川火车客运站、货运站之路。可是由于这条省道又破又窄特别是肖山路段{灰尘滚滚}简直就是天上人间，到处是危桥，而危桥限高只能通小车，严重制约了吴川经济发展以及严重影响吴川形象。
茂湛高速自2000年通车到现在己有十个年头了，这条公路早在九七年就开始筹备建设，年年都列入年度十大工程建设项目，光打雷不下雨，到目前还停留在纸上谈兵阶段，何时才能开始动工还遥遥无期，这条路不但是吴川人民之痛！也是吴川政府之耻！
一个地方如果连最基本的公路交通基础设施都不去建设，还有什么资格谈其它发展呢？？？

以下是外地游客对这条吴川省道的两个描述：
之一(从吴川市区到浅水出入口上高速）：
昨晚同学带我到开发区吃全鸽宴，吃得有些燥，早上起晚了。打算带LP去以前我妈妈来看我时比较喜欢吃的一家酒楼吃饭，那里的卤水莲藕真的很好吃……可以那里中午被人包场了，吃不成，在其他酒楼随便吃了午饭，买了水晶凤爪就回程了
大概12点半启程。刚到官渡收费站，被告知前面出了车祸，封路，要先走一段国道再下一个收费站再上高速，看着路牌就行。没办法，一路走国道，走了很久都没有见到转回高速的指示牌，因为怕晚了堵车，决定在吴川从浅水收费站上高速，结果到了吴川市，GPS没有显示高速出入口，周围买地图也没有买到，在一间邮局问到路。当时觉得好笑，那个人问我们开的是什么车，我们说是小车，他说能过。按着他的指示，而且这里完全没有路牌，走过一个水闸，原来这里吊了一根铁棒限高，再走了一阵两边是田地的小道，我们一直没有看到路牌，只能一直走（因为没有支路），很艰难才在一个石墩上面看到是省道，GPS显示在向着高速走。再往前走，你简直不敢相信是这是一条省道。这条路一只穿过一条村，中间我们还穿过村民的集市，最窄的地方两边都是摆卖和买东西的村民，中间只能勉强过一部小车，我和LP都傻眼了，怀疑是不是走错了，但是在这条路上不敢下车问路……终于在14点半见到高速的指示牌，看来，那条省道是唯一能从浅水收费站上高速的路。原本40公里的路，走国道和省道走了100公里。
之二（从浅水出入口下高速到吴川市区）：
吴川游记-驾虎归来
今天，带着一颗即将放飞的心，踏上了去往吴川的休闲之旅！
一路上，大家有说有笑，心情都很好，唯独我的内心隐隐有种余悸，不知是否在暗示着将要发生的未知之事。经过将近4个小时的车程，终于到达吴川境内，这时我们的车载GPS导航仪与一位资深本地人士在前往最终目的地的时候发生分歧，最后在少数服从多数的情况下，按照科学就是第一生产力伟大理论的指引下，我们选择了相信科学的产物--GPS，结果，我们踏上了一条史前烂路........
刚下了高速公路，紧接着就是连接吴川的省道，首先看见的就是一台震耳欲聋的大货车拖着一路的烟尘从我们面前驶过。如果你们见过战场上被敌人炮火轰过的道路，此刻就摆在我们面前，一开始还想着可能也就几百米的烂路吧，这可是省道嘢，不会没人管滴。
因为这时的气温已比较低了，加上车外的湿度非常大，导致挡风玻璃上结了一层水雾，我打开喷水雨刮想扫掉遮挡视线的雨雾，结果该死的雨刮喷了不到两秒钟，就宣告结束--没水了，真是屋漏偏逢连夜雨啊。导致挡风玻璃上全是灰尘与水的混合物--泥浆，视线被完全遮挡了。这时我们的副驾驶同志冒着被车匪路霸抢劫滴生命危险，头也不回的拿上自己那支还剩下不到半瓶的矿泉水毅然下车，用刘翔的速度把挡风玻璃擦拭干净，然后迅速跑回车内，紧接着我们就绝尘而去。在我们连续颠簸了将近一个小时，才把这条我一辈子仅见的史前烂路走完......

这条路肩负着梅录周边及长岐、樟铺、浅水等镇超过数十万的群众出行，还肩负着吴川各镇上高速的重任，现在这个样子，而且还长时间是这个老样子，完全置于不闻不问不管的状态，政府实在交代不过去，任何理由也都说不通。

泱泱我大吴川！全境目前来讲国道325和大王线（新建七八年），还有哪一条公路是好的？省道吴逢线烂烂坑坑十几年，政府都无修得好，何况乡道？市区梅录因两条分洪河而成为名副其实的岛屿，一共有十二条桥把它与外界联系起来，但可悲的是这十二条桥之中除了325国道从中通过的大山江桥和塘尾桥较好能通车之外，其余十条有那一条不是报废了就是立着限高限重的？！悲啊！很是无语，看着这烂路烂桥，看着那栋栋新建政府机关大楼，吴川政府不会是想把吴川人民困起来鱼肉做个土皇帝？！羽绒之乡、建筑之乡、体育之乡、月饼之乡、老板之乡等等一张张吴川政府向外炫耀的名片，但这是吴川人一步一个脚印创造出来的！而在吴川民间广为流传“中国烂桥烂路之乡”，却是这班只会炫耀的腐败政府为吴川争取回来！！！在此我代表吴川的人民“问候”你：我们“伟大”的吴川人民政府班子！你们为我们创造这伟大的“政绩”，我们决不会忘记你们的！怒！！！！—吴川鹅儿

一、近期建设的重点交通项目（年）
1、蓬吴线（省道S285）。起点于浅水镇龙首茂湛高速路入口，终点于吴川市区，全长16公里，新建一级公路，设计速度120km/h，6车道，水泥路面，路基宽35米，总投资约4.8亿元。

吴川政府吹水就天下无敌，落实就无心无力。
