It is "one of the few bright spots in the Chinese economy," says Zeng Ming. He is talking about e-commerce. Mr Zeng, the chief strategy officer for Alibaba, a giant Chinese Internet firm, predicts that digital transactions on his firm's platforms will top l trillion yuan ($159 billion) this year-more than Amazon's and eBay's combined. That is a bold claim, but consider what happened on Singles Sunday.Invented a few years ago by students and seized upon by digital marketers, this festival for lonely hearts falls annually on the& llth day of the llth month (since l is the loneliest number). It is like St Valentine's Day, only worse. Singletons shower each other with tender gifts: a storm of sweets. This November llth they spent a surprising 19 billion yuan on Alibaba's online platforms-a fourfold increase on a year ago, and more than double what Americans spent online last Cyber Monday (the Monday after Thanksgiving, when retailers urge Americans to shop online). About 100m purchases were logged, accounting for 80% of the packages shipped that day. Couriers(怏递员) were buried in parcels. So life is good for China's e-tailers, then? Not exactly. The number of digital marketers is increasing and online sales are booming. Consumers are enjoying lower prices, better service and more variety. The problem? The pressure on profits in Chinese e-commerce is worse than in America, reckons Elinor Leung of CLSA, a broker. "Almost no one makes money," she says. The fiercest battles are being fought between online retailers and their bricks-and-mortar(实体的) rivals.Dangdang, a firm. that resembles Amazon,.and 360buy, another online retailer, have cut prices fiercely. Tencent, a cash-rich online giant known for its instant-messaging software, is splashing out to win market share. 360buy has also just raised $400m from investors to do the same. But it is unclear how much longer such firms can burn through capital.【小题1】What's the best title of this passage?A.The Ambition of AlibabaB.Fierce Competition between RetailersC.A Newly Sprung Festival for the SinglesD.Chinese Booming and Developing E-commerce【小题2】According to Zeng Ming, this year Alibaba will&&&&&&&&.A.outweigh Amazon and eBay in worldwide influenceB.rank top among all the Internet firmsC.have more than 159 billion dollars' saleD.create another sales miracle just like the one on Singles Day【小题3】How many packages were shipped on November ll th from Alibaba's online platforms?A.About 80 million.B.About 100 million.C.About 125 million.D.About 180 million.【小题4】What's the author's attitude towards online retailers in China?A.Optimistic.B.Concerned.C.Sympathetic.D.Indifferent.

A trip to a theme park is alwaysa adventure, but if you’re not prepared, your day of fun could easily turn intoa tiny little nightmare(噩梦). It is important to pack long sleeved(带袖的) shirts or jackets for all members of your family. I is also a goodidea to pack an extra pair of socks for each member of the family, especiallythe children, as those wonderful water rides can be fun, but wet socks thatwon’t dry aren’t so much fun.You don’t want to packtoo much food, as you will probably want to experience at least some of thefood offered at the theme park of your choice(that’s half of the fun), but it’salways a good idea to bring some energy increasing snacks, such as fruit, trailmix, etc. This can mean the difference between spending a lot of money on snacksor a little money on one or two good meals.Theme parks, while funand exciting, can wear a person out, especially a child, so it’s important tokeep hydrated(含水的). I would suggest packing one bottle of waterper person, and possibly a couple of cans of soda or bottles of juice as well. It’s a good idea tohave at least two cell phones or even a set of “walkie-talkies” in the eventthat your family gets, separated in the park. To us, it seems so natural to put up an umbrella to keep the water off when it rains. But in fact the umbrella was not invented as protection against the rain. Its first use was as a shade (遮蔽) against the sun.Nobody knows who first invented it, but the umbrella was used in very ancient times. Probably the first to use it were the Chinese, back in the eleventh century BC.We know that the umbrella was used in ancient Egypt and Babylon as a sunshade. And there was a strange thing connected with its use : it became a symbol of honor and power(权力). In the Far East in ancient times, the umbrella was allowed to be used only by those in high office or by royal people such as the kings or queens. In Europe, the Greeks were the first to use the umbrella as a sunshade. The umbrella was in common use in ancient Greece, but it is believed that the first people in Europe to use the umbrella as protection against the rain were the ancient Romans. During the middle ages in Europe, the use of the umbrella almost disappeared. Then it appeared again in Italy in the late sixteenth century. And again it became a symbol of power.Umbrellas have not changed much in style during all this time, though they have become much lighter in weight. A habit is any action that we have performed so often that it becomes something that we do almost without thinking. Some of them are thought to be bad habits. People spend countless hours and dollars each year trying to get rid of these bad habits but often fail. Why? Change is hard work and there is no shortcut to achieve it. However, there is still some advice for you to follow.First, look at why you do it. In other words, what’s the result of doing this thing? If your bad habit is shouting at people when you are unhappy or under pressure, what do you get from it? It may make you feel a little better for the moment. Or maybe you have a bad habit of leaving your homework undone. The result could be that you get more time to spend on the Internet!Next, take a look on the other hand. What are you losing because of your habit? Shouting at other people is a bad habit because it makes people around you feel bad and unhappy. Leaving your homework undone is a bad habit because you may be punished by your teacher. Having more Internet time means that you are losing the chance to learn the things that you need to learn. When you think that way, you’ll find that it’s not wise to keep your bad habit! Now it is time to make a decision. What will you choose? I’m sure you will choose to do what you think is more important.1.From the first paragraph we know that __________.A. a habit is a terrible thing that we can never changeB. people spend countless hours and dollars to get rid of habitsC. none of the people who try to break bad habits are successfulD. though it is difficult, we can still do something about our bad habits2.The underlined sentence “there is no shortcut to achieve it” means that ________.A. it is not easy to get rid of bad habitsB. there is a long way and a short wayC. something dangerous may happenD. we must cut it in a short time.3.According to the reading, if you want to get rid of your habits, you have to _____.A. talk to others when you are in low spiritsB. know why you do what you doC. finish your homework firstD. spend less time on the Internet4.Which of the following does NOT happen because of a bad habit according to the reading?A. Many people have a fear(害怕) of public speaking. According to a study, it has an influence on 3 in every 4 people. This fact is surprising and worrying, as most jobs require some speaking ability. The following will help you to make a speech better.Write note cards. Write main ideas on your cards. Don’t write details. Put in some fun facts, questions, and other activities on the cards to share with the class. Don’t look at your note cards for a long time while speaking. If necessary, you’re only going to have a quick look at the card for information, not read every word.Smile at your class. When it comes time to speak, there’s nothing that draws your class into your speech than a good old-fashioned smile. Be happy, because you’re about to teach your class something they didn’t know before. Studies have shown that smiles are infections. That means once you smile, it’s hard for everyone else not to smile. So if you want your speech to go off well, smile. That will make everyone smile and maybe those smiles will make you actually smile.Make eye contact. Nothing is more boring than listening to a speaker who looks at the floor or at note cards. Relax. Your class is made up of your friends and you talk to them all the time. Talk the same way now. Have a look at every person in the classroom at least once. That way, everyone will feel like you’re communicating with them. Also, you know you’ll look like what you’re talking about.Use hand motions. Move your hands along as you talk, using them to express your key points and keep the class interested. It will also lead your nervous energy into a better place.1.According to the passage, ______ of people might fear to speak in public.A. 100 percent
