This brand new series by Catherine Bybee starts right off with Doing It Over. Melanie was voted Most Likely To Succeed in high school, though now ten years later she’s back where she began. After dropping out of college, a bad relationship, and a kid, she is ready to start over, and where better to commence then where she feels most at home.
Being a single mom is not easy, though now that Melanie is back in River Bend, she has her friends close. The support, and love she gets from them, is just what she needed to get back on her feet. Not to mention the attention of the handsome handyman Wyatt.
So far so good, but it wouldn’t be a Catherine Bybee novel without some mystery. The drama comes from an unexpected angle, and quickly turns more serious than I was expecting. While Melanie may be at her wits end, Wyatt and her other friends are there to help her through this ordeal.
Doing It Over has maybe not the most original plot, though I love my small town romances. Everyone is up in each other business (in a good way), and I love every minute of that. The romance between Melanie, and Wyatt was of the sweeter kind. I really liked the way he connected with Melanie’s daughter. As for the secondary characters, they are a great addition to the overall charming feeling, and I would love to read more about them.
