Video SurveillanceVideo Surveillance/Security ApplicationsCX93510 JPEG Encoder with a BT.656 CameraInterface and Optional Microphone InputConexant’s CX93510 is a monolithic mixed-signal Application Specific Standard Product(ASSP) specifically designed for motionsensors with visual verification. The encoderis controlled through a simple register set viathe microprocessor interface. The variety ofavailable interfaces, such as Serial PeripheralInterface (SPI), UART and I2C, allow forwide flexibility in microprocessor selection.Combined with an external CMOS sensor, theCX93510 retrieves and stores compressedJPEG and audio data in an on-chip 256 KB/128KB frame buffer so no external memory isrequired. The ASSP enables low-cost, low-power Passive Infrared (PIR) surveillancecamera applications with visual and audioverification.Upon a motion event, the host processorwakes and configures the CX93510 andbegins image/audio captures within 100 msof motion being detected. The chip has bothdigital and analog photocell sensor inputsavailable to facilitate the measurement ofambient light and uses an on-chip LED driverto control an external infrared LED duringlow-light conditions. The CX93510 supportsJPEG and MJPEG-DPCM image compression.An optional 2:1 scaler provides Quarter VideoGraphics Array (QVGA) images from the VGAinput. The device processes both color andblack and white images up to 30 fps.With the elective microphone input, the CX93510records a 2- or 4-bit Adaptive Differential PulseCode Modulation (ADPCM) audio sessionsimultaneously during image captures. Theframe buffer can be optionally configured tocontain a 4 KB contiguous memory area foraudio data storage. When not enabled, this 4KB block reverts to video memory use. Thestored images and audio data are then passedon to an external microprocessor.The CX93510 allows for flexible powermanagement options with its internal voltageregulators and I/O connection options. Toconserve power, it can remain in a very deepsleep during idle periods until awakened by thehost processor. For systems that are batterypowered, the CX93510 can operate between3.6 V and 1.8 V.
