&PC和ABS共混后可综合PC和ABS的优点。一方面，它可提高ABS的耐热性、抗冲击性和拉伸性能，使ABS用于高端领域；另一方面，它可降低PC的熔体黏度，提高PC的流动性，改善其加工性能，减少制品的内应力，减少冲击强度对缺口和厚度的敏感性，使PC可用于薄壁长流程制品的制造。因此，PC/ABS合金综合了PC和ABS各自的优点，当配方和工艺合理时可获得比母体树脂更优异的性能。&20世纪60年代末期和70年代初期，Borg-Warner公司（现已被GE公司收购）开发出了第一种PC/ABS合金，此后，各大公司均相继开发了PC/ABS合金，并发展了多种牌号，如电镀级、阻燃级、紫外线稳定级、玻纤增强级、耐磨级等，已广泛用于汽车仪表盘、内外饰件、移动电话外壳、笔记本电脑外壳、微波炉制件、燃气灶制件等领域，获得了迅速的发展。GE公司的商品名为Cycoloy，已有数十种，也开发出了高流动级PC/ABS合金，悬梁缺口冲击强度可达480J/m，适宜制作薄壁和复杂制件。另外，该公司的低温冲击韧性好的Cycoloy C1100前者更耐热，耐冲击，工艺性更好，其热变形温度为105℃，悬臂梁缺口冲击为640J/m，用于仪表、消费品以及其它非阻燃商品设备等。Bayer公司最早开发出了阻燃级PC/ABS合金，商品名为Bayblend。日本帝人化成公司开发出电镀级PC/ABS合金，商品牌号为MK-1000A。DOW公司开发出的Pulse A20-95和A30-105，能在较宽的温度范围内承受冲击负荷，可用于制造汽车的仪表板。Monsanto公司采用独特的“反应性偶联共混工艺”，开发出Triax2000系列PC/ABS合金，它具有良好的冲击强度、硬度和成型性，主要用于制作汽车的反光镜外壳和车轮罩。
