“想象一个洞穴中居住着一些囚徒，他们一直以来就被链子锁着，不能活动。不只他们的胳膊和腿不能活动，他们的头也不能转动，他们被迫盯着面前的一堵墙。而囚犯的背后是熊熊燃烧的火堆，火堆和囚徒中间是一条砌起墙壁的通道，墙壁刚好与人同高，而木偶艺人们头顶他们的木偶在通道上走动，这些东西包括由木头、石头和其他材料制作的人和动物的木偶，艺人们的身形刚好被墙壁的高度所遮盖，而只留木偶露出墙外。
囚徒们只能看到光线照射到木偶上形成的影子，但是不知道那些影子里，是否是真的人和动物。而墙壁下来回走动的人们不断的脚步声和噪声通过墙壁的反射传入囚徒们的耳朵，使通道上的声音交错着，这些杂乱的声音听起来就像是这些木偶做成的人或动物，正在通过通道。
因此，囚徒们认为影子是真实的，回声是真实的，而无法知道它们其实只是木偶。因为那是他们实实在在一直看到和听到的，难道这不是合理的吗？”
换句话说……
我们感知的真相未必一定是真相。而真相常常存在于更深层次的地方，那些我们尚未看到的地方。
或者说……
我们感知的真相，实际上仅仅只是一种幻象。
交易也是如此。
实际情况是，大部分人并不真正理解市场是什么。
他们只是通过去看图表，去听课程,分析之类，从而来感知价格运动和由此产生的技术分析形态，以及基于指标的信号等等。
他们认为这就是真相。因为那是他们所知道的全部。也是大部分书籍、视频，网站资讯和课程所教授的内容。
遗憾的是，那些交易者们就像洞穴寓言中的囚徒们一样。受到这些所教授的内容或潜移默化中自我吸收的固化观点的桎梏，他们错误地相信自己看到的，就是所谓的真相，而实际上，它们却只是一种幻像。交易者们未能感知到，存在于更深层次的，市场的真相。
