演练和课外实践活动,着重培养学生将英语与旅游专业知识融会贯通的综
&&& 模拟导游实务英语课程是以模拟导游活动全过程为主的综合性专业
课。课程设计目的是为了使旅游专业学生熟悉导游工作的全过程,提高导
游解说内容的文化内涵,丰富导游解说方法与技巧,使其解说语言更加准确
与规范,增加导游解说的灵活性与针对性,达到更好的解说效果,为使学生
成为文化型和专家型的导游员打下坚实的基础。
&&& 二十年来,我们已经形成了一支无论是在年龄、职称、学历结构等方面
都比较合理、发展成熟的教研梯队。《模拟导游实务英语教程》的作者全部
来自这支梯队。该教材严格按照全国高等院校旅游专业模拟导游课程教学
大纲要求编写,适用于经过至少两年的英语课程学习,已经有了较高的英语
听、说、读、写、译能力,同时已经掌握了比较扎实的旅游专业基础知识的高
年级学生。
&&& 本教材由姚宝荣教授负责整体设计与构思,并提供部分课文以及练习
的素材等。全书共分十五个单元,其中第一、二、五、六、八、九、十四等七个
单元由陈慧老师负责编写,第三、四、七、十、十一、十二、十三、十五等八个单
元由黄建敏老师负责编写。
&&& 鉴于本教材涉及大量文化背景知识,我们特别邀请了英国爱丁堡大学
文化研究方向博士研究生魏周参与我们的编写工作。他不但为我们提出了
许多宝贵的建议,同时也参与了本教材的部分编写和校对工作。另外,在我
校旅游学院任教多年的美国专家John Arant在百忙之中认真地通读了全部

commentary is your second& concern.
How knOwIedqeabIe about the theme
are you?Have you buiIt the tour com-
mentary in a way that汁systematica&y
incorporates& information& that& goes
aIong with the s计e you are Vis汁ing?(3)
&Do you have a warehouse of stories, cultural tales, oral histories, quotes,
poetry and anecdotes or personal examples from everyday life that may
help illustrate the important ideas? Is the information you provide correct
and accurate2 Commentaries and tours are immensely variable, and so
are the approaches of planning and delivering.(4)
&&&& When you get round to building a tour commentary, you should
always first of all find out whom you are going to be talking to and take
their interests into your consideration. Secondly, you should always plan as
if your visitors knew nothing about China, its past history and modern
development or its diversified cultures and ethnic: groups. You must be
prepared to give a lot of information, ranging from the 1 1th Five-year Plan
to job hunting for college graduates and migrant farmer workers, and be
capable of explaining in much detail. (5)Then you will find when you
deliver your commentary, quite a few do know a great deal about China
and many are attentive and even more curious than before. Still, you
should make sure you are not giving false information at any time
because there are chances that you will surprisingly and occasionally find
a Chinese scholar in the group who knows more about China than you
do. You are risking your reputation if you are ever caught fabricating false
information to save face. (6)The group is certain not to believe what you
say after that. So it is always safe to say that you don't know or are not
sure if you really don't know something. Tourists understand that no one
&knows everything about this ancient but ever growing country and they
&don't expect you to. If someone comes up with a question you do not
&know the answer, it is a good idea for you to tell him or her that you will try
&to find it out and give the answer as soon as possible.
&&&&& It is- usually up to you what to talk about at any site you visit, but you
&need to be aware that anything of interest to the visitors that you neglect
&to include in your commentary will lead to their asking you questions. So
&when you plan your commentary, you should bear in mind the theme of
&the four, the characteristics of the main attractions, sights to see en route,
&etc., and then develop your talk around them. It is wise for you to present
&relevant information they are curious about in sequence than to get stuck
&with answering a succession of questions that you are not prepared
