V. 1.0, Everything!
It's the first )
You may see some areas on
charts with ??? insted of a value, these are bits of data I am still collecting.
I also have not
had this FAQ proofed because it is not done.
You can expect to see version 1.1 with compleat data
and fully proofed sometime in the near furture.
Untill then, this should get you by.
I did my best to sort this guild by both relavence in the games flow of time and from
least complex to most complex.
Hopefully I was successfull and this guild helps you to become a
top notch farmer quickly and easilly.
For section 2. Getting Started their will be specific data
on the subjects listed as well as more detailed information on the basics of each kind of domestic
plant (crops and trees)
This inclueds things like planting patterns and general care which will
be skipped in the later sections.
Theirfor, even if you are an advanced player and are looking up
a question that relates to a more general catagory, check the simplest sections for your question
2.G covers some importent but complext details in the plant management system of the game
and should be read by everyone.
Crops and Trees are listed Alphanumerically in charts.
If you are new to harvest moon games then the Getting started section will be a god send,
if you are not, please try to bear with me since I'm writing this so everyone can understand and
make no assumptions (sorry, you may get a little bord).
As always in my FAQs $$$ signals something very commenly asked or a take home message so
if you want to skim first look for these along the left of the page.
I would also like to appologise for any unwanted spoilers you may find in this FAQ, I
really was unable to find a way to fully explain things without inclueding these so most areas
contain some mixed in with general data.
However, I will do my best to place warnings in areas
that are heavily spoiler filled... So then, lets get on with the fun!
*******************
Getting Started
*******************
Welcome to the wonderful world of harvest moon.
If you haven't gotten a grip on animal
care yet, you'll want to read my animal care guild first, but let us assume you have already read
that and no longer fear your cow.
Your ready for the trickier part of the game, growing crops and
The first portion of this section will cover how to go about preparing the land so you
make the best posable use of it.
The second part of this section will help guild you through the
proccesses of crop and tree care and also inclueds some very handy charts and recomended goals for
year 1 of the game.
If you like the charts you can highlight them by dragging your mouse over
them and clicking print.
Then check the option in the print window that says "Print: Selected
Text" or something like that and your printer will print only the charts you wanted :D
$$$ - Don't waist your money on tool upgrades in year 1.
Ah, tools the life and blood of a farmer.
When you begin the game, your father's friend
and your farm partner, Takakura, will give you his old tools (Watering Can S, Heavy Sickle, Heavy
They are slow, heavy, and limeted, but you have plenty of ways to get better tools later
You may feel inclined to run to the shipping shed Takakura showed you at the opening of the
game to spend your money on fancey new tools that use less stamina and work faster and longer,
When you start the game, you won't want to spend all your time taking care of a huge
feild of crops and trees.
You also won't have the money to afford such a feat.
The bulky tools
you start with are more then adequit for what you need to do and they will make your character
stronger and faster by building his muscles to boot!
Personally, I don't even use the light tools
later on in the game, my character is so stronge now the heavy ones work just as well!
To pick up
your tools enter the storage shed that is attached to the left side of your cow barn.
shelving on the left and press (A) when the word "Look" appears over it on the button map in the
upper right corner of your screan to be taken to a veiw that lets you select tools.
again when the tool you want is highlighted.
You can scroll left or right along this tool wall
veiw so if you can't find a tool you know is there, try this.
Below is a list of each kind of
tool and what they are used for and how to use them.
$$$ - Equipping tools: Press (Y) and use the yellow (C) stick to scroll to tools, then use your
crontrol stick to scroll untill the tool of choice is highlighted, press (A) to equip it.
also press the (Start) button and use the same basic scrolling methoids to highlight an item.
Press (A) twice in a row to equip the selected item.
*Watering Cans:
Use these to transport water to your crops and young trees.
To fill the watering
can equip it,
Once you are holding the watering can approach the little well/pool of water next
to the chicken coop that Takakura showed you during the intro.
When you are close enough to it
the option "Use" will appear on the (A) button.
Pushing (A) at this time will cause your
character to dip the can into the water and fill it.
Step back from the well and you will see a
"?" in the (A) option.
Hitting (A) at this time will tell you how may squares of water you have
left in the can.
Now, walk over to one of the dirt patches on your farm.
Your camera will snap
to a birds eye view and you will see a hylighted yellow box around one square of soil.
the square you are focused on and the (A) button will again say "Use".
This time, when you hit
(A) the water will spill from the can and wet the soil that was highlighted.
Unfortunetly the
tracking of animation in this part of the game isn't real great so the water looks like it hit
some other square most of the time, but as long as the selected square was dry you should see it
darken to indicate that it has been waterd.
Step back from the feild and the camera returns to
normal and the "?" reappears on the (A) button.
Hit (A) again to see that your total water amount
held by the can has decreased by one.
You can refill the can at any time.
When it does run empty
you will get an animation of a single drop of water falling from the can when you try to water a
square of soil with it.
The ledger in your shipping shed lets you order medium and large cans.
Save your money on them untill year two, it's not that hard to refill the small can once a day
when you start out.
The money is better spent.
However, once year two does role around and you
have lots of money from following this guide, go ahead and get the large watering can since it's
really the only tool upgrade with real value.
You will not need to water mature trees, but
imature trees and crops should be watered 2-3 times a day with the watering can unless it is
You will know when it is time to water your crops/trees because the soil will dry out
and become lighter.
Soil has 4 shades of dryness, The darkest is totally wet, then slightly
lighter, then very light (this is when most people re-water) and finally dusty bone dry.
soil reaches the dusty bon dry stage your plant may look somewhat wilted, if you water it fast
enough it will bounce back.
Hoes are digging tools that brake up the soil and make it easier for plant seeds to take
In this game you MUST hoe(till/turn) the soil in order to plant seed.
Just equip the hoe
and approch a plot of soil, once the one you want to till is outlined in yellow hit (A) to "Use"
It's as easy as that.
As long as you keep planting fresh seed in a tilled square of
soil it will stay that way forever, but if you accidentally till in the wronge spot, don't worry,
it will turn back into normal soil after enough time has gone by without anything growing in it.
Hoeing the ground will really tire you out in the begining of the game, but you only have to do it
once and it will make your character a lot stronger.
Other uses for the hoe inclued cutting down
unwanted trees and old crops after they produce fruit.
To get rid of an old crop's left overs
just have the yellow focus outline on the crop's square of soil and hit (A) to "Use" the hoe on
For trees you do exactly the same thing, but this time the game will ask you if you are sure
you want to remove the tree before actually destroying it.
Be carefull not to destroy crops that
have not produced yet or trees you want to keep.
You can also fill in holes left by root crops
with the hoe, but this serves no real value as you can plant seed directly over the pits as though
they were not there.
The sickle is a large sharp blade used mainly for cutting down the long grass in your
livestocks pasture to make fodder.
It is a hand held version of the better known Syth tool held
by the Grim Reaper (or any reaper for that matter).
Modern day farmers don't use the dangerious
Syth, but Sickles are still used today, but usually go by the name of weed wacker.
They are still
dangerious, but easier to use.
The Sickle can also be used to remove old crops that have already
produced in order to open up the soil for fresh seed like we used the hoe for above.
procedure is exactly the same, just equip the sickle and press (A) to use it on the highlighted
*Your Eyes:
It's not really a tool, but it's one of the most important things for growing crops
successfully and can help with a lot of stuff in the game in general.
I'm not talking about you,
the players eyes, but the characters eyes.
When you are holding a tool, but not focussed on
anything the "?" option appears over the (A) button.
Hitting (A) at this time will tell you about
the tool you are holding.
Likewise, if you are NOT holding a tool and then focus on something the
"Look" option will occur.
Pressing the (A) button at this time will tell you about that which you
are focussed on.
The best part about this, is your ablity to check on soil and crop/tree
conditions.
Just change your focus to a square you want to know about (highlighted by yellow
outline) and the game will tell you what kind of plant is growing their (if any), where it is in
it's development, what kind of soil it is and the state of the soil.
This is grate if you can't
remember which plants have already flowerd or not, or are trying to see what feild to grow
something in and have not yet learned which is which.
approching a ripe crop with no tool
equiped will change the "Look" to "Pick", hitting (A) at this time will harvest the crop and the
plant remains may be removed by either the sickle or the hoe.
*Takakura:
Okay, he isn't really a too either, but her is very usefull non the less.
will he tell you a lot of valueable information if you just run up and talk to him (usually the
info is relevent to what is happening on the farm at the time, or if nothing cool is going on he
will give you a list of topics, talking to him again will get a second list of topics).
use, is analising items.
Show him stuff from your farm and he will tell you about.
proticularly nice for new tools and holdable live stock... seed, crops.... everything!
Talking to
him in his home at night will get you extra info and some cheap easy beginner recipies.
also your link to town.
Any Dairy and Egg products you wish to ship to town or any items you wish
to buy or sell from town will be delt with by him.
To give him work just enter the shipping shed
accross from your tool storage shed and approach either the table with the book on it or the
cooler next to it.
Place items you want to sell in the cooler (only milk and egg products, crops
and such are sold to the traveling salesman Van).
Viset the table to veiw your ledger.
will leave you notes and any money made in the ledger every day.
If you scroll over to his
picture in the lower left corner you can leave money and a note to him to buy or sell animals,
tools and other such things.
*Seed Maker:
You won't get this right away in the game.
Insted, one day Takakura will mention to
you he saw one for sale in town for 6,000G (Outch!).
When he mentions this seems semi dependent
on how many seeds you have baught and planted from Vesta's farm, or perhaps it is related to
having at least 6,000G in your funds.
The seed maker is a device, not a portable tool and will be
placed on the right-hand wall of your tool storage shed attached to your barn.
Placing a crop in
one of the 12 slots of the matchen will dry it for a few days and then give you 2 units of seed.
DO NOT spend your money of this device, you can get it for free if you play your cards right.
Check the spoilers section below or the goals area for detail (I'm assuming this is a spoiler you
want to know about hence it is in the goals section).
If you have already paid for the seed
maker, well.... that bites, sorry, nothing you can do about it.
>>>>>>>>Specific Tool Data Below<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOILERS BELOW<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>END HEAVY SPOILER SECTION<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WARNING!!!
This calander is not compleat, for details regarding what and why
date is missing please veiw section 4.C<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
This section is a planting calender to help you make desitions on when to place crops in
the ground.
Plants listed on each day are those that may be planted on that day and be expected
to be harvestable before the end of the growing season (growing seasons may last several calender
I do not inclued trees on the calendar because trees can be planted at any time and do
not have a true growing season.
If you want tips on when to plant your first few trees, I suggest
reading the starting up section.
Like in real life, the change in seasons is not instant, but gradual insted.
Thankfully
this gives you a day or two to salvage crops that didn't quite ripen by the end of the season.
However, don't push your luck.
Crops marked with a ~ are probubly going to make it to maturity by
the end of the season unless you totally forget to water them.
Those marked with a * are possible
to plant and get to maturity, but your seriously pushing your luck if you plant them on this day.
This is the appsolute last day you should even considder planting that species this growing
season. The first collum list Purebrid crop, the second holds the Hybrids and the thrid is for
rare crops.
$$$ - A crops growing season can be several calander seasons long.

Dear editor (编辑) ,
I live in a beautiful city . Many visitors come to my city . there are so many colorful peacocks (孔雀) here .
The peacocks mostly live on the grass land of Dongfeng Square
They are given food freely by visitors . They usually throw food to them , and don’t think about at all whether the food is right or not . Some of the peacocks became ill , some even died after eating the bad food given by the visitors.
I’m sure most of the visitors who throw food to the peacocks really like the birds , but don’t realize (意识到) that they may be doing them harm (伤害).
