In my opinion, learning a second language at an earlier age has many merits for a child compare to those who learn later.

Actually a child do not learn a language, they acquire it since it is an infant.　　An infant can receive and recognize different lingual signals from adults and then imitating them according. They can utter simple words, such as “ Dad” and “Mum”, “Yes” or “No” at an earlier stage . Before they go to primary school to receive formal and systematic teaching on spelling and writing, they have already acquired
many basic knowledge on pronunciation and grammar. An infant doesn’t know what is English and what is Spanish unless they go for formal education. Therefore, the earlier you give them a second language knowledge, the better they will be able to learn systematically after they are sent to school.
