these days when learning english, a large number of students fail to pay attention to spelling. easily found in their essays are spelling mistakes which to some extent affect communication.
several factors may account for such phenomenon. in the first place, the wide use of network language with short-formed and non-standard spellings should be responsible. it sets up bad example for students to follow. additionally, the time and effort devoted to different aspects of english learning have a lot to do with it. oral english and listening skills have gained great attention, while spelling and writing training is inadequate. last but not least, it is the students themselves that ignore the importance of correct spelling.
