网易体育6月22日报道：尽管小组赛前两场赢得都有点踉踉跄跄，但好在凭借梅球王的关键进球，潘帕斯雄鹰最终还是率先晋级了淘汰赛阶段。最后一场小组赛，来自南美与非洲的两只雄鹰将展开较量，但事实上，只要不败就稳坐F组头名的位子，所以基本上来说只要隔壁组的高卢雄鸡正常发挥，以小组第一的成绩晋级16强，那法国人就间接地为阿根廷铺就了一条通往里约马拉卡纳球场的康庄大道。另一方面，在卫冕冠军西班牙被耻辱性地提前淘汰，并且三狮军团也步其后尘率先打道回府之后，东道主队最终走进决赛大门的几率也大幅地提升了。这样一来，本届最终的里约决战就极有可能在两支南美球队间展开。
