The Functioning of the Directive Team during an Institutional Self-Assessment Process, in the Quality Assurance of School Management Policy Framework in Chile

The research presented in this article describes the functioning of ten leadershipteams that were engaged in the institutional self evaluation componentof the System for Quality Assurance of School Management. Qualitativemethods of multiple case studies were used to document how leadershipteams described their own work over time. Results showed that the mainchange observed was that the teams learned how to work together with therest of the school community. The documented changes, however, did notlead to the adoption of a culture oriented towards evaluation for continuousimprovement. The discussion presents a model that describes the variousphases of the team′s process and beliefs, as well the factors that facilitatedor hindered the self assessment process.

The streams are of air and hydrogen and come into contact after passing over a finite thickness base. The two gas streams are delivered from a high-pressure reservoir and entering into the domain with atmospheric pressure. The two-dimensional unsteady Navier-Stokes equations, energy, mass diffusion and species continuity equations are numerically simulated to analyze the mixing layer in supersonic flow field. An explicit Harten-Yee Non-MUSCL Modified flux-type TVD (total variation diminishing) scheme is used to solve the system of equations. An algebraic turbulence model is used to calculate the eddy viscosity coefficient. Keeping constant the inlet pressure and velocity of the streams, the merging angle is varied to observe the physics of flow fields, mixing of two-streams and mixing efficiency. The results show that the increase of merging angle causes stronger interactions between two streams, high momentum exchange and eventually enhancement of mixing between two streams.Discover the world's research11+ million members100+ million publications100k+ research projects

ABSTRACT: The influence of different injector geometries on the mixing behavior of planar supersonic jets is investigated. Hydrogen is injected in the flow direction through the blunt end of a strut. Different lip thicknesses at the injector end induce different extents of recirculation zones. Additionally, changes are caused within the shock-wave/expansion fan pattern at the injector exit that have an important influence on loss in total pressure. The accuracy of the used numerical scheme is demonstrated for one injector geometry by comparison with experimental data. Based on this configuration, modifications in lip thickness and injection Mach number are investigated numerically and are assessed using several calculated performance parameters. Results show that the chosen lip thickness has a much stronger influence on loss in total pressure than moderate modifications in injector length and height. For the very thin hydrogen jets that were investigated, the mixing efficiency is nearly independent on injector lip thickness.Article · Jan 2000 ABSTRACT: In this paper, different aspects of supersonic turbulent flows are discussed, in connection with some properties of compressible turbulence. The discussion is based on experiments, in which particular features have been found. The first point is the influence of density gradients. It is shown that changing the density gradient in a boundary layer does not change the particularly small size of the energetic scales. This effect is attributed to compressibility and not to density stratification, probably by modifying the `inactive motions'. The second point is about the importance of acoustics in a mixing layer. The results show that turbulent transport of momentum and heat follows the same analogy as in boundary layers, and that the energy losses by acoustic radiation are too weak to explain the reduction of the spreading rate, which is the major global effect of compressibility.Article · Sep 2000 +1 more author ...ABSTRACT: Plane turbulent mixing between two streams of different gases (especially nitrogen and helium) was studied in a novel apparatus. Spark shadow pictures showed that, for all ratios of densities in the two streams, the mixing layer is dominated by large coherent structures. High-speed movies showed that these convect at nearly constant speed, and increase their size and spacing discontinuously by amalgamation with neighbouring ones. The pictures and measurements of density fluctuations suggest that turbulent mixing and entrainment is a process of entanglement on the scale of
some statistical properties of the latter are used to obtain an estimate of entrainment rates.
