The impact of the Internet on interpersonal
communication
generally believed that the Internet has exerted a great influence on
interpersonal communication. But when it comes to whether it is a blessing or a
curse, there is always no consensus.
Some believe that
the Internet facilitates social communication. They argue that it enables
get in touch in the blink of an eye. Thanks to E-mail, MSN or ICQ, talking to a friend half a world
away takes only a few key strokes. Others, however, take a different view. They
point out that the Internet has contributed to the alienation many feel from
each other in modern society. It is not uncommon to hear that people email
their colleague who is sitting just a few feet away.
Personally, I agree with the latter view. Sure, the Internet helps bridge
the geographic gaps, but when a girl would rather let her father read her blog
