食品说明书一般包含食品名称、配料成分、食品口感、营养价值、适宜人群、食用方法，有时也会包含食品形色、烹制工艺以及该食品的历史、荣誉和市场销售情况等内容，其目的是为了激发读者的购买欲和食用欲。食品说明书的翻译多采用归化策略，即本土化策略，以目标语文化为归宿，尽可能使译文的表述适应目标语的文化习惯，为目标语读者扫除源语及源语文化(异域文化)所带来的种种障碍，从而极为顺利地激发译文读者的购买欲和食用欲。中文食品说明书的英译要注意以下方面:
1.避免中文式英语(Chinglish)
如:色、香、味俱全。没有任何化学添加剂及色素。大可放心食用。
