巴朗或者绿宝书不够好吗?巴朗词表虽是美国教研机构出版的权威词表,但对于中国学生来讲这份词表是不够的。因为美国的学生在备考前已经有了很多的阅读经历,他们常看的小说,杂志,电影电视,教科书,网络,阅读作业给他们打下了较好的词汇基础,巴朗词表是针对这些学生的一个高阶或者书面词汇提高和补充。中美学生的阅读量的差距,使得巴朗词表并不能给中国学生足够好的备考资料。: J$ R, X2 L- i6 I
滚词SAT 怎样修正巴朗词表?滚词 SAT 在巴朗的基础上删减了部分废词。例如 ichthyology, 鱼类学家, 最近150年内纽约客和纽约时报的纸质出版物出现400次,最近一年仅出现1次。并补充了文学作品和杂志的高频词,例如 mingle 混合,不在巴朗,SAT 绿宝书,托福红宝书,高考,中考范围内,却在近两年的纽约时报和纽约客出现700次,是文学作品中的高频词,在最近6年的真题和官方指南中出现7次。
滚词SAT 将初高中和托福红宝书词汇作为考生的已知词汇,再收录真题和文学作品中的高频词,最终形成了这个包含5000个单词的词表。
为什么不包含托福红宝书词汇?一般要求SAT成绩的美国大学都会要求国际学生有较高的托福分数,所以我们假设了学习者有较好的托福词汇基础。这使得我们可以减少个单词的篇幅,将内容重点放在高级词汇上。4 H! L, F1 t7 Y! V2 _7 U3 [
怎样的SAT词表范围才是好的?首先是有效的备考,但同时不能盲目覆盖过去的真题,而忽略未出现的其他高频词汇。为了覆盖真题,会加入不必要的低频词。 有效的辅助其他文学作品的阅读。3 W5 T& l! d4 O0 `1 _' c1 Y2 C4 [
为什么不能100%的覆盖率?能但是没必要。若达到真题100%的覆盖率,词表大概会在8000词左右,但那也只是覆盖了过去的真题,对未公开的真题的覆盖率肯定不到100%。而且其中肯定包含了非常低频的单词,比如 ichthyology 。而这种非常低频的单词,很多英语为母语的人也很多不认识,这部分可以通过词根做出推断,没有必要加入词表。* \3 W; U: p* v4 U" [3 v/ \
