I tend to agree that young children can be negatively affected by too much time spent on the computer every day.
This is partly because sitting in front of a screen for too long can be damaging to both the eyes and the physical posture of a young child, regardless of what they are using the computer for.
The main concern is about the type of computer activities that attract children. These are often electronic games that tend to be very intense and rather violent. The player is usually the “hero" of the game and too much exposure can encourage children to be self-centred and insensitive to others.
Even when children use a computer for other purposes, such as getting information or emailing friends, it is no substitute for human interaction. Spending time with other children and sharing experiences is an important part of a child's development that cannot be provided by a computer.
In spite of this, the obvious benefits of computer skills for young children cannot be denied. Their adult world will be changing constantly in terms of technology and the Internet is the key to all the knowledge and information available in the world today. Therefore, it is important that children learn at an early age to use the equipment with confidence as they will need these skills throughout their studies and working lives.
I think the main point is to make sure that young children do not overuse computers. Parents must ensure that their children learn to enjoy other kinds of activity and not simply sit at home, learning to live in a virtual world.我倾向于同意儿童每天在电脑上花费太多时间会对他们产生负面的影响。
其部分原因是不论儿童为何使用电脑，长时间坐在电脑屏幕前，都会对儿童的视力和坐姿有害。
人们主要关心的是哪些电脑活动吸引了儿童。吸引儿童的通常是电子游戏，它们的内容往往非常激烈甚至暴力。并且玩家通常是游戏中的“英雄”，过多接触这类游戏会促使孩子变得以自我为中心，且对他人不敏感。
即使孩子是用电脑做其他事情，如搜取信息或发送电子邮件给朋友，电脑也不能取代人际交往。与其他孩子待在一起并分享经验，是孩子成长发展的重要组成部分，这是电脑无法做到的。
尽管如此，不容置疑的是，拥有电脑技能对儿童也有显而易见的好处。随着他们长大成人，科技会不断发展，互联网将是获取当今世界所有知识和信息的关键。因而，儿童在早期就学会自信地使用电脑是非常重要的，因为在他们的未来的整个学习和工作生活中，都会需要这些技能。
我认为，重要的是确保儿童不过度使用电脑。家长必须保证他们的孩子学会享受其他形式的活动，而不是仅仅坐在家里，在一个虚拟世界中学习生活。
